It's Been A-While!

I haven't blogged in quite a while, and I felt like a smoker who couldn't have a cigarette for a whole day. It's about 9:45 on Thursday, August 14. I am cuddled up in my computer chair listen to Peter Bjorn and John's song, "Young Folks." I have lots to talk about this time, probably a week's worth of stuff. Last time I blogged was a couple days before leaving for vacation. August 6th through August 9th, I journeyed up into the beaches of Ogunquit, Maine. This has been a tradition for at least 10 years now, and we have no desire to end it. There are three main families that attend: Our family, which is my mother, my father, my brother (18) and I. Our second cousins, Steve and Antoinette are the parents, and they have two kids, Steven (23), and Marc (15). The last family is a family from Minnesota, and they are Vinnie and Kathy the parents, with their children Kristen (25), David (23), and Nick (19), however Kristen and her husband weren't able to come this year. This year, it rained 2 out of the 4 days we were there, but somehow it was the best vacation i've ever had. This year the 5 of us guys were the most comfortable around each other becuase we found out that some of us, smoked marijuana. Now I don't but I have a problem being around it, but it's my decision not to directly inhale the fumes of w33d. Everyone else besides me decided to take their hits.. every night. When I look back on it now, it actually made me go from funny to extremely hilarious on the fun scale, because everything I made them have fits of laughter. It's devastating that this vacation only lasts 4 days, because all five of us most likely had a non stop laugh going from Wednesday to Saturday. Ogunquit is known for it's beautiful town, not for it's waters. This year the water was a solid 62 degrees, and that is the warmest it's ever been. But, when the air temperature is only 65 degrees, the water seems below zero. Nick, Marc, Carmen, and I were the brave souls of the group and decided to make a run into the water. We figured if we ran as fast as we can into it, we wouldn't feel it.. dumb idea. They all stood around the water waiting to see who was going to take their life first. At the point, the only words in my head were, "Go big, or go home!" I sprinted as fast as I can, hoping to trick the water. I got my feet in, and about a second later, I took a dive underwater.. OUCH. It felt as if mother nature slapped me a thousand times from head to toe with a block of ice. As I emerged from the water, or we can call it ICE, I felt mildly retarted from how cold it was. Do you know those corny movies where a person is having that crying speech when they are half dead? Their mouth is barely moving and their eyes are half shut. That is probably what I looked at the time, because I thought my insides were going to deteriorate. At that time, everyone was making their run into the water, and I forgot about the freezing because their faces were absolutely priceless. We stayed in for a whole 10 minutes, and then we started worrying about what we were going to feel when we got out. As we reached our little campsight on the beach, we thought we were going to crumble into little pieces. To me, these are memories, ones where you can look back and laugh at yourselves. I don't think memories are where you say, "Hey remember that time I was blacked out drunk... Wait, what did I do again?" Nothing will ever take Maine away from us, because we don't see much of eachother. However, I know this trip is going to be my favorite for years.
